Hi, and welcome back to the Mind Body Manifest podcast. I'm your host, Laura Livermore Gille, certified mindset and manifestation coach, wellness retreat leader, and embodiment mentor for ambitious women just like you. And today we are diving into how to align your energy with receiving. So how to get into the energy of receiving your desires.

So if you are someone who deflects compliments, you feel uncomfortable when someone offers to pay for you, or you feel like you need to do it all, this episode is for you. We're talking about why these habits are blocking your abundance and how to shift into an open, receptive energy to manifest all of your desires. Let's dive in. So let's start with understanding

what the energy of receiving actually is. So at its core, it's about being in a state where you're open to allowing abundance to flow in your life. Now, if you're like, wouldn't I always be open to allowing abundance in? Like, that's what I want. But it's a little bit more nuanced than that. So we're going to dive in. But abundance could be anything, right? It could be love.

money, opportunities, support, joy, even receiving kindness or compliments. All of that are considered things that you receive. And the energy of receiving is all about being open and in alignment. So because everything is energy, you are energy. You have an energetic field, a vibrational

space that you carry with you. And when your energetic field is open, your energy is expansive and welcoming and magnetic to the things that you desire to attract. But when your energetic field is closed, it's like you're blocking yourself from receiving the things that you desire, whether you're doing that intentionally or unintentionally.

So how do you know whether your energy field is open or closed? This is going to build upon what we talked about last week with figuring out whether your energy is in lack or in abundance. So when you are focused on abundance, your energy field is open. You feel light, calm, connected.

You trust that things are on the way. You are accepting of what is. You accept help and kindness without feeling guilty. You trust that good things are on the way. Your energy field is open and you're receptive to what others are saying. You're like in a cool, calm, grounded energy.

But when you're in lack, your energy field is closed. So when you're focused on the problems, when you're judging, when you're complaining, your energetic field is closed. And you might feel more tense, more stressed, or like you need to control every single detail. And you're not trusting that everything is working out for you. You may notice yourself rejecting help

or feeling uncomfortable with compliments or gifts. And this is all tied to your emotions. So emotions are really energy and motion. your emotions are a powerful signal telling you whether your energetic field is open or closed. So there's this book called E Squared by Pam Grout. It's really good. But basically, she goes into

giving you energy experiments for you to try out that tests whether manifestation is real, essentially. And one of the experiments is about testing whether you are actually made of energy and how different emotions open or close your energetic field to receiving. And so I, of course, did all the experiments and I love this book.

I've taught some of these experiments to my clients. I did one of these experiments with some of the people that joined my abundant soul retreat. So if you were at the very first one, we did this really fun energy experiment. basically when you are thinking, I want you to just try this with me, close your eyes and I want you to imagine

someone that you deeply love or care about, or maybe it's an animal like your pet, and I want you to just imagine giving them a big hug. I want you to feel that warmth and that connection and that love. And in that moment, when you are imagining that and you are feeling that love, your energy field opens.

You probably feel lighter, more calm, relaxed, maybe a little bit excited, but like all positive emotions. So in the experiment, she has you hold on to these metal poles. And when you're imagining something positive, someone that you love or deeply care about, the energy, the poles, they're kind of like wires, start to open up.

They start to move outwards and you can feel and actually watch your energetic field expand. And then if you try the opposite, if you start to think about something that you are really pissed off about or something terrible that happened to you or just something really negative that makes you feel hurt.

sad, angry, upset, anything like that, and you're holding the poles, your energy field starts to close down. And it's like your energy just constricts and the poles actually start moving towards each other. And so when you are...

Feeling high vibrational emotions like love, gratitude, joy, those emotions naturally expand your energetic field. But when you're feeling things like fear, anger, guilt, shame, your energy field closes down. You know that expression that people use about shutting your heart down when you've been hurt?

by a past relationship and you've shut your heart down, it's the same concept. Your energy field is closed. You're defensive. You're not able to receive what the other person is trying to tell you. If you're in an argument with your partner and you're both angry and you're both yelling at each other, you're both being defensive, neither of you are ever actually able to hear

really truly hear what the other person is saying because your energy field is shut down. So you're not even able to receive a different perspective. It's only once you've calmed down, you've regulated your nervous system, you've put yourself back into a state of feeling centered and grounded, can you actually allow your energy field to open back up and actually make

rational decisions or hear what the other person is really trying to say.

And so this is why it's so important to cultivate emotional awareness around how you're feeling, what thoughts you're thinking that are making you feel certain way and whether your energy is open or closed, because it's going to make all the difference in what you manifest, what you create, what you experience in your life. Everything that I share with you builds upon becoming aware.

just becoming more aware of how you're being, how you're vibrating, how your frequency is, because that is what determines the life that you live, what you manifest. So if you want to try that experiment out, go get the book E Squared by Pam Grout. There's lots of fun little, I think she has like nine different experiments in there, but that one's really fun and you can actually

think different thoughts and watch how your energy field expands, opens up, or closes down based on what you're thinking and feeling. Okay? So what are some other ways that you could be blocking yourself from receiving your desires? So let's break it down. One of the ways is deflecting compliments.

So when someone compliments you and they say, look so amazing today, how do you respond? Do you gladly accept and just say thank you? Or do you deflect and you're like, no, I didn't even shower?

Or like, no, I look terrible today, I didn't even shower. Or how do you respond? If you are deflecting, you are rejecting that good energy that someone was trying to give you. Giving and receiving go together. When one person gives, someone else receives. And so if you are deflecting,

compliment. You are denying someone else the pleasure of giving you the compliment.

Or do you feel bad when someone gives you something, whether they're trying to buy you lunch or offer to give you help? Do you ever feel guilty? Do you ever think, I don't deserve this or feel like you need to reciprocate immediately? But here's the mindset shift. Receiving doesn't mean you owe anyone anything. It's simply an exchange of energy.

And when you receive with gratitude, you're allowing someone else the joy of giving.

Another way is, you refusing to let go of control? We've talked about this already on the podcast with the law of detachment. And this one can be really huge for entrepreneurs, moms, when you believe that you have to do everything yourself, whether it's at work or at home, and you're not leaving room for someone to help you.

for support. You feel like you have to control all of it. If you don't do it, it's not gonna get done or it's not gonna get done right. And delegating is not weakness. It's wisdom. Trust that others can step in and do their part so that you have the bandwidth to receive more opportunities, connections, and ideas. But when you are...

Trying to control everything, trying to do everything, your energy is scattered. You're not allowing yourself to truly receive the ideas, the downloads, the opportunities because your energy field is too scattered. You've shut your energy field down because you feel like you have to do everything and you can't do everything and do everything well. It's just, so.

I want you to start to ask yourself.

Is my energy open to receiving the things that I desire? Or is my energy field shut down?

In every moment, you have an opportunity to ask yourself deeper questions to become more aware of how you are being. Am I focused on lack or am I focused on abundance? Am I focused on the problems or am I focused on gratitude and what's working?

Have I shut my energy field down? Have I closed off my heart? Or am I open to actually receiving and hearing the other person's perspective? Start to ask yourself those deeper questions and you will make huge leaps and bounds in your life.

So instead of deflecting compliments or help or gifts, practice saying yes. Don't overthink it. Just say yes. Thank you. I receive.

Especially as women, I know as women feel like we need to apologize or do everything or just, no, just say thank you. Yes, I accept your help, I appreciate it. And then affirm your worthiness. Yes, thank you, I am worthy of receiving this, this help, this gift, this compliment, I am worthy of that.

And don't forget to delegate. Like, start small, delegate one task at a time, and see how it feels. Watch your energy field open and expand as you let go of the things you don't need to be doing.

And at the end of the day, practice gratitude. Practice gratitude always. But I think it's a really good practice to do at the end of the day, instead of focusing on what you didn't get done, focus on what went well, what you received, what you're grateful for at the end of that day.

And here's the bottom line. If you want to manifest more abundance in your life, whether it's money, love, opportunities, success, you have to be in the energy of receiving. Your energetic field has to be open. You cannot receive the things you are desiring, the things that you are asking for, the things that you're calling in and manifesting. If

You're stuck in fear. You're not trusting the outcome. You're not allowing yourself to receive in other ways.
